What are your favorite songs by The Beatles? I love them all! The great songs by the Beatles bring back so many great memories. The lyrics by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and later George Harrison made The Beatles songs classics and made them the most popular group of all time. From love songs to rock, the Fab Four did it all and have stood the test of time. The songs by the Beatles have truly stood the test of time.
If you love songs by The Beatles as much as I do, then you have got to take a look at The Beatles Box Set review I have put together for you here. You actually have 3 different option when it comes to the latest Beatles box set:
The Beatles Stereo Box Set
The Beatles Mono Box Set
The Beatles USB
What are the Songs by the Beatles that am I getting with The Beatles Stereo Box Set?
The Beatles Stereo Box Set is actually a box set compilation containing all 13 studio album recordings of the songs by the Beatles. It includes the Past Masters albums too. Each one is remastered in stereo. The set premiered in September of 2009, exactly the same day both The Beatles: Rock Band and the remastered Beatles Mono Box Set. The work for each stereo and mono versions was remastered by Abbey Road engineers Steve Rooke, Guy Massey, Sam Okell with Sean Magee and Paul Hicks.
The biggest thing you will notice is the sound quality. These Lennon and McCartney tunes never sounded so good! If you listen to these songs by the Beatles with headphone on a good audio system, you will be blown away.
**Bet You Didn’t Know: This box set received the award for Best Historical Album at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards.
How is it different from The Beatles Mono Box Set ?
This is important: The songs by the Beatles that are on the albums Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road and Let It Be will not be a part of The Beatles Mono Box Set . These were actually recorded in stereo in 1968 ans 1969 when stereo was first introduced.
In addition to those albums not being included in the stereo box set, no stereo mixes exist for the 1963 single “She Loves You” and the B-Side “I’ll Get You” or the 1962 single “Love Me Do” and the B-Side “P.S. I Love You”. Believe it or not, it was a common practice at Abbey Road Studios in those days to erase and re-use master tapes as soon as they had been mixed into mono for the release of a single. Genius lost!
What songs by the Beatles do I get with the USB?
The wonderfully designed, apple-shaped 16GB USB drive is packed with the remastered songs by the Beatles. It is the audio for The Beatles‘ 14 stereo albums, in addition to each of the remastered CD graphic elements, which includes 13 mini-documentary films about the studio albums, duplications of the original UK album art, scarce pictures of the Fabs and enhanced liner notes. It’s completely compatible with a PC or a Mac.
It really is a cool and convenient way to take The Beatles catalog with you wherever you go. 30,000 of these were released in December of 2009 as a limited edition, but they are still available on Amazon if you are interested in this collector’s item. I personally like having the hard copy so I didn’t opt for the USB. In a way, I regret it because I travel a lot and would love to be able to just throw it up on my laptop. Nonetheless I’m happy with the hard copy. Here is what the USB looks like:
Pretty cool looking if you ask me….
My Favorite Part of the Stereo Box Set
The Beatles Stereo Box Set includes not only the songs by the Beatles, but a DVD compiling all of the mini-documentaries published on each album. This DVD features commentary from John, Paul, George, and Ringo as well as George Martin. This is so cool to me. I love hearing from the people that were actually there. Each Mini Documentary includes rare video clips and formerly unheard conversation. You will find sound outtakes from a variety of songs by the Beatles, combined with still photographs, segments of TV appearances, video footage from inside recording sessions, video footage of their last photography session, and content from all 5 Beatles films. This DVD is only included in the Stereo set, and is not part of the Mono edition.
What Others Are Saying
Both box sets and the USB have received rave reviews from most consumers across the net. The songs by the Beatles in the set have never sounded better. In fact both the Stereo and Mono versions have received an average 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon with the USB averaging 4 out of 5 stars on the same site.
Here are some comments we found:
- “The sound quality of the songs are, without a doubt, the very best that I have ever heard before.”
- “….the stereo adds an outstanding dimension to the sound.”
- “Get Back is so clearer I felt I was listening to all instruments live in my room.”
- “I have to say the remixing turned out real good….Paperback Writer sounds so good now.”
- “The remastered sound is incredible…….”
Any Complaints?
I did find 2 reviews that were not crazy about the stereo version. They said they had to change the bass and treble on a song-to-song basis. I didn’t have this problem personally, but thought I would mention it. I found absolutely no bad reviews about the Mono Box Set and the way the songs by the Beatles sounded on this set.
How Much Should You expect to Pay?
Beatles.com has The Beatles Stereo Box Set for $190 and the Mono for $220.
The cheapest place we have seen is on Amazon. The Stereo Box Set ranges between $180 new and $100 used as of this writing. The Beatles Mono Box Set
ranges between $190 new to $80 if you are willing to buy it used. The USB
is a little more expensive since it is a limited edition: $265 new to $230 used.***

Where Can I Read More Reviews?
In my opinion, the best place to read reviews from people that have actually bought the product is Amazon, hands down.
If you are huge fan, the songs by the Beatles have never sounded better than in these box sets.
